E-bike/Bike Registration

To help support the safe and responsible use of bikes and e-bikes (including scooters and skateboards), Newport-Mesa Unified School District middle and high schools have partnered with the Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) and will host safety presentations as part of NMUSD's new mandatory bike and e-bike registration program.

Middle and high school students who travel to and from school using an electric vehicle are required to:  1) complete the PedalAce Safety Course or 2) attend e-bike safety presentation with NBPD.

Education

  • NMUSD will be using the Pedal Ace curriculum, which is an online bike/e-bike safety course that can be completed in 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Students will need to sign up for the course using this enrollment form.  The email that is entered in the form will be the email Pedal Ace will send the login information to.  Students will need to create their own password.
  • Once the class is completed, students will be able to print the completion certificate as verification. Pedal Ace will also provide that certificate number to NMUSD. Students need to bring their certificate of completion to the Enclave office to pick up their Project 529 shield. Shields are to be placed onto the bike, e-bike, scooter, or skateboard to be eligible to park on campus.
  • Students will then register their bike through Project 529.
