OUR PROGRAM

All CdM high school students can enroll in a language course beginning freshman year. No prerequisites required for entry into a level 1 high school language course.

 

CdM offers a full course of study for the following languages:

  • Spanish
  • French
  • American Sign Language

INCOMING students (students NEW to CdM) who are trying to place into a level 2 class or higher in Spanish or French, or current CdM students not currently enrolled in a language but who are looking to begin a course of study above Level 1 must take a Languages Placement Test. (ASL students unsure about placement can contact Tammy Owney directly.)

Students scheduled to take a placement test should come to the Main HS office.  They will wait to be taken over to the testing location as a group. Testing starts at 12:30pm and lasts 45 min - 1 hour. Please bring a #2 pencil.

(NO TEST NECESSARY FOR LEVEL 1 courses.)

  • C or better to count
  • “Consecutive” language. Highest level completed in High school counts.
  • 2 years required
  • (3 years recommended)
  • On-line courses NOT recommended, provide no verbal practice (required for upper levels, and AP test)

  All languages and courses meet the UC/CSU entrance requirements.
