- Not all eligible members will be selected.
- After submitting an application, applications will be reviewed by the chapter advisor - who will solicit commentary from CDM faculty and staff. The NHS Faculty Council will make final verdicts.
- Selection by the NHS Faculty Council will be based on the quality and content of the application, one’s overall score (rubrics can be found in Member Resources) on the application, and input gained from CDM faculty and staff. There is no cap for accepted members.
Returners
- Effective as of the 2026-27 school year, Returning NHS members NEED NOT REAPPLY each year. However, they must obtain a positive teacher recommendation should they wish to renew their membership.
- NHS members are expected to maintain the high standards of the organization, attend NHS meetings and activities, abstain from any instances of academic dishonesty, and meet/exceed the minimum community service hours per quarter. Failure to do so will impact your status and selection in subsequent years.
NHS Faculty Council
- The NHS Faculty Council is a collection of teachers tasked with all final decisions on NHS membership and applications. We are required to have this board as per the NHS bylaws. Their verdict is final and will be carried out by the NHS Board. The individuals on the NHS Faculty Council are undisclosed; NHS members are not aware of who is on the NHS Faculty Council. NHS bylaws do not require the Faculty Council membership to be made public.
