7th Grade Course Content

The focus of this course is teaching all of the Common Core State Standards for 7th grade Language Arts through writing.  Vocabulary, spelling, grammar, reading skills, comprehension, are all best learned and retained through the active process of writing; therefore, it is our belief that all students are best taught by expanding and honing their writing skills.   Our year will be broken up into units. First semester will focus on short stories and expository writing. Second semester will cover historical fiction, research, and argumentative writing and revisit previously-learned writing skills as needed.

Successful students bring the following items to class each day:

  • Designated Language Arts  binder
  • FCR (Free Choice Reading) Book
  • Pencils
  • Blue or black ball point pens
  • Colored pens for correcting
  • Highlighter
  • Homework and on-going class assignments or projects
  • An "I can-do it attitude" every day

Welcome to Middle School!

Hello students and parents/guardians!

My name is Ms. Grint and I am so pleased to be working with you this year.  I hope that this website is a helpful resource for you as we go through this year together and try to navigate what it means to be in middle school! Most questions you have can be answered by looking in the department or personal syllabi, which are all located in my locker.  If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to me through SchoolLoop or during Intervention.  Parents, if you ever want to set up a conference or meeting with me, please set up an appointment through email with me first.

I earned my B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Disability Studies at UC, Berkeley (Go Bears!).  My college studies continued at UC, Irvine with a Masters in Education and my teaching credential.

Please check SchoolLoop for news, assignments, files, web links and much more.  Everyone needs to be involved in the education process to be successful-- students, teachers, and parents!  If we are all proactive in the learning process the school year will be a great success.

Let's have a great year!

Ms. Grint
