Participation in Athletic Competition (BP 6145.2)

The District’s athletic program shall be free from discrimination and discriminatory practices in accordance with state and federal law. The Superintendent or designee shall ensure that equivalent athletic opportunities are provided for both sexes.

No student shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, be denied equivalent opportunity in, or otherwise be discriminated against in interscholastic, intramural, or club athletics based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, immigration status, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression or the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. Financial Obligations

All extra-curricular activities (including athletics) within NMUSD operate free of charge to all of our students.  While donations or contributions may be requested, there is no connection to a student’s ability to participate and their ability/willingness to contribute financially.

Additionally, all NMUSD athletic teams operate with the understanding that selection will be based solely on demonstrated performance and not due to any outside affiliations (e.g. Club Teams) nor participation in off-season voluntary fee based athletic camps.

No Pay to Play Fees.

Boys Golf

High School Boys interested in making the golf team for Spring, please meet with the coaches at CMCC (Costa Mesa Country Club) at 2:30pm this Thursday, 11/29, and next Thursday, 12/6.  If you are currently in a Winter Sport, please email Coach Starkweather at mstarkgolf14@gmail.com and let him know your intentions to come out After your season!  CANCELLED FOR TODAY (12/6) DUE TO RAIN!

Reminder to all incoming high school athletes:

In order to play at sport at CdM, you will need a 2018-19 Athletic Clearance Packet-- new for each year.   (This is also known as the physical form... same thing!)  The new Student Authorization/Consent for Disclosure of Protected Health Information should be attached with this packet.

 

PLEASE TURN IN TO THE ATHLETIC OFFICE ONLY TO BE SURE TO RECEIVE PROPER CREDIT! (Do NOT turn it in to your coach -- they will receive a copy of it and you may want to keep a copy of it too, for your home files).

If you have not yet turned in your Athletic Clearance, please do so within the first two weeks of school, no matter which sport you may be participating in.  It will be good for the entire school year (2018-19).
