The Academy of Global Studies is headed to South Africa this February. There are a few spots still available. Contact Ms. Mayberry in room 210 if you are interested in going. If spots are still available after September 26th, the trip will be opened up to non-AGS students. 

 

HS Club packets are due today, Friday, September 21st by the end of school to the ASB Office. You will be notified next week if your club was approved.

 

This week's Comedy Sportz rehearsal is today from 12:40-2:40 in room 617. Come join our school's Improv Team. No experience required.

 

Calling all choir kids! Come out to the music rooms on September 25th from 6 to 8 PM for the CDM Music Mixer! There will be food, fun, games, and more! This is a non-mandatory event for choir students only. Hope to see you there!

 

The Principal's Council is a select group of students from various grades who meet with the Principal during lunch every other week to discuss student issues, promote changes that would benefit CDM, and provide communication between administration and students. Students from all high school levels are welcome to apply. Applications are due by September 28th at 11:59 pm. Check your loopmail for more information. 

 

Patrick Turner's Family and the Patrick's Purpose Foundation invite you to join the "Patrick's Purpose" team at the Orange County "Out of Darkness" walk to prevent and fight suicide next Saturday, September 22nd. The walk, sponsored by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is in Fountain Valley at the Mile Square Regional Park. Walker check in and registration is from 8-9:30am. Opening ceremony and walk starts at 9:30am and will conclude before Noon. You may log onto www.patrickspurposefoundation.org to register for the walk and/or order a Patrick's Purpose T-shirt. The suggested donation is $25 and the money will cover the cost of the T-shirt with the rest splitting between donations to AFSP and Patrick's Purpose Foundation. Did you know that every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer? On September 26th you can take a bite out of cancer and help Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation make a difference! Giving back is as simple as dining at your favorite restaurant. Bring your family, friends, teams, clubs, and local community to one of the participating restaurants to dine out for a cure. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner knowing your meal will give back to those in need. A list of the participating restaurants will be sent out in a schoolloop email. Be apart of the cure on September 26th.

The Kings of Harmony Barbershop group will be holding their first rehearsal today at lunch in Mr. Ball’s Room, 622. All staff and students who enjoy singing tenor and bass are encouraged to come.

 

If you are interested in joining the Mock Trial Team, please come to an informational meeting today at lunch in room 210. For more information, please see Ms. Mayberry.

CdM is so proud of the madrigal singers for their amazing win this past summer on their tour to Poland, Austria, and Slovakia. They won all 5 categories they competed in, 3 special accolade awards, and the grand prix of the entire competition! congratulations madrigals!

The CDM Sailing team participated in a one day SoCal Regatta in Newport Beach last weekend. CDM Sailing sent 19 sailors in eight boats. CDM sailing took home trophies for 1st and 3rd place in the Gold Division and 3rd place in the Silver Division. Go Sea Kings!

Attention Seniors! Need college application help? Need help with your college essays? Come to the free College Assistance Nights on Mondays and Wednesdays. Drop in hours are 3:30-7:30pm in the SRC starting today, Monday September 17th. A school counselor and English teacher will be there to answer your questions and give assistance. Don't wait, come get those applications done!

 

Attention Seniors, if you are enrolled in the Fall Semester Online Health Class you are required to attend a mandatory orientation today. The Online Health Orientation is from 4 to 5 PM today in the Lecture Hall. Please see your school loop email, calendar and assignments for more information about your mandatory orientation today!

This year’s theme, “Heroes Around Me,” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Pick up submission guidelines and an entry form from the SRC and return it by October 19th. The Boys Football team beat San Clemente 21 to 20 with a very exciting last few minutes! Congratulations!

 

The CdM Boys Water Polo team swept Long Beach Wilson on Friday. This is their fourth sweep of the season. In the Varsity game, Tanner Pulice scored 5 goals, Tyler Harvey scored 3 goals, Caden Strauss scored 2 goals, and Gavin Reed and Aden Mina each scored 1. Boys Water Polo start league today, taking on Huntington Beach at Newport Harbor at 6:20pm. Come out and support.
