Daily Announcements - Monday, November 20th

UCLA United States Air Force representative will be here at lunch in the SRC to present the ROTC program.


Tuesday at lunch Oxbridge Academic Programs will be in the main quad at lunch.


Today during lunch there will be a Current Events Club meeting in Ms. Keane's room 326. This week's topic will be on gun control. Pizza will be served.


One Recovery will be showing a film and holding a panel with experts in the medical field tonight, Monday the 20th.  Come by to view “The Downside of High” and participate in a Q&A with the experts.  One Recovery is also holding a drawing for 4 Brittany Spears tickets as well as a backstage pass to her show in Las Vegas.  For more information, stop by the ONE room on campus or visit 1recovery.com.


Over the weekend our Speech and Debate team went to the Junior Statesmen Fall State conference and competed against 500 other students from around southern California. 18 students, both from middle school and from high school, won best speaker gavels. CdM practically swept when it came to debate.


Seniors plan to order your Cap, Gown, Tassel, Graduation Announcements and Senior Remembrance items Wednesday, November 29th by the Student Store from  7:15am – 12:45pm .  Ordering packets were mailed to the homes of all Seniors.  A sample of your schools Custom Graduation Announcement is on display now in the Student Store.  Senior Ring orders will also be taken and delivered in 6 weeks.  Extra ordering packets for Caps, Gowns, Grad Announcements and Senior Rings are available in the Student Store.


Congratulations to our CDM Men’s Cross Country team for a great season and for making it to the CIF Division 3 Finals in Riverside on Saturday. Team members Ian Turner, Duncan Taylor, Joey Cianfrani, Josh Means, Nico Pence, Dylen Cox and Grant Glessing competed at Finals.


The Sea Queens Cross Country team is on the road to the California State Championships this Saturday in Fresno! They placed 5th at the CIF Finals on Saturday to qualify for Division 3. Freshman Annabelle Boudreau was the top finisher for the team and was 25th with a time of 19:09 for the 3 mile course in Riverside. Gigi Lee, Julia Tung and Emma Montgomery all placed in the top 50. Assisting the team in qualifying were Sydney Sharp, Maya Buchwald and Lauren Griffin. Congratulations girls and good luck at State!


Football lost in their second round CIF game last Friday, but, you guys had an amazing season and amazing run, you played your hearts out and everyone at CdM is proud of you guys.


Girls Tennis defeated Arcadia 4-3 in the finals of the State Regional Tournament on Saturday. Danielle Willson, Annika Bassey and Roxy MacKenzie won their singles matches. Emily Freyman and Bella McKinney clutched the team win with a huge victory at 3rd doubles for the Sea Queens!!




If anyone missed the VA holiday show tryouts last week it’s not too late to still be a part of the show!  Come to the lecture hall next Monday, 11/27 to show us your act.  Must be holiday themed and 2 minutes or less.
