Daily Announcements - Thursday, February 16th

Girls water polo defeated Newport Harbor last night in the first round of CIF 9-4.  Congratulations girls and good luck in the matches to come!

 

Girls soccer plays their first round CIF game today at 3 PM against Peninsula.  The Sea Queens play at home, so make sure to come out and support the undefeated girls.

 

Boys soccer also plays their first round CIF game at Estancia High.  They play a tough Capistrano Valley team and need your support for the win.  Come out and support.

 

The TED Talks club is hosting their first speaker, Ian Rowden, tomorrow at lunch in the lecture hall.  He is a world marketing expert and is sharing his knowledge to the CDM community.

 

If you are interested in joining ASB for the 2017/2018 school year you must attend one of the information meetings on 2/27 and 2/28 at lunch in the lecture hall. Applications will be given out at meetings only.

 

If you are a student currently taking an AP course, the final days of registering and paying for your AP exam are here.  The deadline is Tuesday, February 28thYou need to register first and then pay for your exam or it won't be ordered.  The two steps in order to do this are: first, register on http://totalregistration.net/AP/052128; second, pay online at the CdM web store or the ASB office.  If you have any questions talk to your teacher or email Ms. Fletcher at afletcher@nmusd.us (AP testing coordinator)

MIDDLE SCHOOL

 

Congratulations to the girls volleyball and boys basketball teams on their excellent seasons.  The 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball teams made it to the semi-finals while the 7th grade boys basketball team placed 2nd and the 8th grade boys basketball team placed 1st.  Congratulations to all of the middle school athletes.

 

 

Today during lunch, several members of the United States Marine Corp will be on campus to talk to students about trash pickup and keeping our beautiful school clean and tidy, especially during break and lunch. Please give them a very warm CDM welcome!

 

There is a High School Club President’s meeting today in the ASB room at lunch. Come by to hear about upcoming club events

Congratulations to Mr. Rojas for being selected as February's Teacher of the Month. His hard work and dedication to bettering the education of the student body deserves praise.
 

During first semester the CDM Academic Decathlon Team prepared for the Orange County Academic Decathlon Competition, which was held over two weekends. Two. The team took home many medals competing in Division two including Zack Gaber placing first in science, first in art, and winning a few other medals. Charlie Horn, Sam Roth and Austin Pham also won some medals. Congratulations to all the students who participated and worked so diligently over the first semester in order to medal in this prestigious event.

 

Congratulations to the FBLA delegation! On February 4th, CdM sent 142 members of its Future Business Leaders of America organization to the Southern Section Competition Conference at Biola University. Students competed in events such as Personal Finance, Management Decision Making, Public and Impromptu Speaking, Business Law, Hospitality Management and many others. Out of 24 schools, CdM placed in the top 5 for the amount of medals won. Many will move forward and compete at the State Level Conference held in Sacramento this April.

 

The World Love Organization club will be holding a fundraiser at Souplantation in Costa Mesa on Wednesday, February 22nd ALL day to raise funds to help those in need. Enjoy the large buffet of salads, soups, pasta, breads, and desserts it has to offer. 20%-30% of the proceeds will go to WLO and pay for necessary supplies to contact children in under developed countries and send them essential school supplies, as well as to give back to the community and the people around us. Please bring the flyer sent out in the email or pick one up in the SRC to make the purchase count.

The next CDM Career Showcase is today, February 14th, at lunch in the SRC. Come hear one of our CDMHS dads, Mr. Daniel Mickelson, speak on his successful career as a CEO for a top advertising agency. Free pizza will be served!

The High School ASB Informational meeting is Monday the 27th & Tuesday the 28th in the lecture hall. Today, Monday, February 13, at 6:30 pm in the Lecture Hall please join John Peterson with Kaplan College Prep for a PSAT Score Report Presentation. Today, Monday, February 13, will be the second student UCI Engineering workshop for grades 7-12 at lunch in the SRC. Free pizza will be served!
