Daily Announcements - Thursday, March 23rd

There will be an American Red Cross Club meeting at lunch this Friday in room 316 discussing upcoming community service opportunities.

 

The deadline to submit applications for Trident Magazine and Trident TV is tomorrow, March 24th before the end of the school day. If you are interested in applying, be sure to pick up an application outside of room 224 and submit it before it is too late. For those who submitted an application there is a mandatory meeting this Monday after school from 3-4 also in 224.  Anybody who is interested in writing, design, photography, or broadcast is encouraged to try out. 

 

Auditions for High School Theatre have been extended until next Friday, March 31st. Visit Mrs. Jecmen's School Loop page to find information on how to audition for her classes. These classes are required in order to complete the PAMA pathway for theatre and also provide opportunities to perform and train your theatrical skills!

 

The much anticipated Spring Musical, Into the Woods starts next Wednesday! Tickets are on sale now at www.bapaco.org. Show dates are Wednesday at 4pm, Thursday-Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm. Don’t miss our talented all student cast and crew in this magical production!

 

CdM’s first annual Earth Day Fair will be April 21st at lunch in the quad. Please see the school loop email from Mr. Dobyns to sign up or, see him for more details.

 

Girl's lacrosse had a great game against Beckman yesterday, winning 11-10. Kennedy Mulvaney had 4 goals, Joslyn Simaan, Ellery Amdor and Jensen Coop each had 2 goals, and Emily Cannon scored 1. The last goal was scored with 12 seconds left in the game on a penalty by Kennedy Mulvaney. Goalie Ashley Olson had 6 saves. Come out and support the girls on Friday at the field on the peninsula for their Battle of the Bay game at 5:00.

 

Congratulations to the boy's swim team. The open, JV & Varsity beat Irvine in their dual meet on Wednesday evening. Excellent swims by: Ethan Archer, Tyler Harvey, Tanner Pulice, Henry Wilde & Jeff Goldenberg.

Seniors – if you park in the Pool Parking lot listen up. Tomorrow, Thursday, March 23, is the Living History Luncheon and many of you will need to park across the street at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church.  Please look for a School Loop email with the specifics regarding parking on this day.  Thank you.

 

Sophomores - tomorrow, for the Living History Luncheon please wear red, white and blue to support our veterans. You'll be dismissed at 11:00, and will return to 6th period no later than 12:30.

 

Today FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is having DEVOTED, a bible study that dives deeper into what is taught at FCA Huddles. FCA hopes to see you in Mr. Anderson’s room, 207, this Wednesday at lunch.

The 2 on 2 basketball tournament has its championship game today at lunch in the small gym. The final two teams are John Humphreys and Danny Hatch vs. DJ Rodman and Jack Stone. Come out and support your friends. 

 

Yesterday, Boys Varsity Golf defeated #1 ranked Woodbridge 188-195 in the rain at Newport Beach Country Club to go 2-0 in league. The medalist of the match was Clay Seeber, firing a 33 followed by Guy Clauss and Zach Glabman with 36 and 39 respectively.

 

Congrats to the Sea King Varsity Baseball team for their 5 to 0 win over Woodbridge. Chazz Martinez pitched a complete game shutout and JT Schwartz was 2 for 3 with 3 rbi's, a home run and a double. Nolan Dunn also added 2 hits. The Sea Kings are home this Friday vs. University.

A valid student email is required upon registration. Deadline to sign up is today, Tuesday, March 21st. See Mrs. Russell in the SRC for more information.

 

ALL STUDENTS are invited to the 4th Annual Junior Jump Start Night and College Fair tonight, Tuesday, March 21, at 6:30 pm in the Library. There will be 42 college representatives each giving specific information about how great their school is. Come fill out an interest card and let them know you care!!

A message to all seniors, this Thursday is the Living History Luncheon.  If you park in the pool parking lot, please park in the Our Lady Queen of Angels lot across the street to allow room for the guest veterans.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is holding Devoted, a bible study that dives deeper than what is taught at FCA huddles.  It will be held in Mr. Anderson’s room, 207, this Wednesday at lunch. For regular FCA, there will be a meeting today in room 426.  Come for friends, free pizza, and a guest speaker.

This week is spirit week, tomorrow make sure to wear red, white, and blue, Thursday wear stripes, and wear sports jerseys on Friday.

The CdM Earth Day student art showcase is back.  The theme this year is Human Impact: Challenges and Solutions.  Entries are due by Monday, April 3rd  before 1st period in the ASB room.  For more information, look for the flyers around school or in your school loop.

Auditions are being held for vocal music on the following dates.  This coming Wednesday during break, lunch, 7thperiod, and after school as well as after school on Thursday and Friday.  Sign-up sheets will be posted at the choir room early next week.  The madrigal singers call back list will be sent out by 7 PM on March 24th.

The girls Lacrosse Team played a great game against Woodbridge yesterday, winning 17-3. Ellery Amdor led the team with 5 goals, and Ashley Olson had 2 saves.  Come out and support their next game tomorrow at Beckmann at 4:00!

Congratulations to the Corona del Mar Varsity Track Team, who excelled at the Laguna Beach Trophy Invite on Saturday, March 18.  The Sea Kings will compete at their next track meet this Thursday, March 23rd at Irvine High School.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

If you went to Spring Fling on Friday, please check your school loop for a survey to give your opinion about your experience.

A reminder about rally schedule this Friday the 24th.  The high school rally takes place at the normal place and time, however middle school will return to 3rd period after break and then walk with their teacher to their designated guest speaker.

Wednesday, at break, lunch, 7th period, or after school. Thursday after school. and Friday after school.  Sign ups for those spots will be available on the choir room door early this week. The Madrigal Singers call back list will be sent out electronically by 7:00 pm on March 24th, and the final lists for all ensembles will be posted by lunch on Monday 3/27.

 

ONE Recovery, an arts-infused support group, will be on campus Monday nights from 7-8pm in the Sea King Connection. They are dedicated to students looking to increase their awareness and be inspired.  ONE Recovery engages visionaries, mavericks, artists, and experts in their chosen fields to come share their path; these are our Conscious Contributors. The TIC TOC club will be having a meeting this Monday during lunch in Ms Holk's room- number 224. Come to learn all about financial investing and hear stories from speakers about their experiences with investments.

Congrats to the Varsity Baseball team for their league opening 10-0 win over Irvine. Tommy Wilcox pitched 6 innings and combined with Alex Shadid for the shutout. Preston Hartsell led the way offensively going 3-4 with a triple, home run and 3 RBI's. Alex Shadid added 2 hits and Griffin Peters doubled in 2. Matt Thompson added two stolen bases. The Sea Kings are home Tuesday vs. Woodbridge.
