Dear Corona del Mar Middle and High School families,
We are writing about an exciting opportunity for CDM - the 32nd Annual Newport-Mesa Spirit Run scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Fashion Island. Spirit Run is a road race and expo event for adults and children, and its net proceeds benefit the Newport Mesa Unified School District. Spirit Run hosts adult races (5k, 10k, and 15k) and youth races (Youth 5k, seven ¼- 1-mile races, and a Toddler Trot). In between races, participants and spectators enjoy an expo featuring breakfast by Plum’s Cafe, live music, youth activities, massage, health and fitness information, and more.
You may remember Spirit Run as an elementary school event, but Spirit Run has grown to include middle and high schools.
The Youth 5k will host a NMUSD Middle School Cross-Country meet between all four middle schools. Think Daily Pilot Cup for Middle School running!
High school sports teams and clubs can fundraise through Spirit Run. In 2014, Newport Harbor Girls Lacrosse earned $6,000.
The following CDM teams and clubs will fundraise through Spirit Run in 2015: CDM Spirit Run Club, Boys Soccer, Girls Softball, and National Honor Society. If your team or club is interested in fundraising, please email email@example.com.
The Adult 5k has a high school division for students to win medals and prizes.
Spirit Run welcomes student performers. Last year, CDM’s Jazz Band and Drum Line performed, and CDM students sang the National Anthem.
Fitness and fun is only a part of what CDM will enjoy by participating in Spirit Run. When CDM families register for Spirit Run, CDM and its participating clubs and teams earn money!
CDM families may participate in Spirit Run as follows:
- Register to run or walk an adult or youth race;
- Donate to CDM, a participating club or team, or to scholarships for entry fees and transportation to Spirit Run for underprivileged NMUSD students; and
- Sponsor as a Spirit Run family sponsor and direct 25% of your donation to CDM or a CDM club or team. In return, receive gift cards for shopping and dining, free entries, name recognition, and other benefits.
Please join us in supporting Spirit Run. Please look for sponsorship, registration, and other information about Spirit Run in daily announcements, school loop, and elsewhere.
Go Sea Kings!
